Visit Historic Sites Dressed To Impress
Fort Myers Beach has a long and fascinating history, especially with the rich and famous historical figures. Many of their lavish homes are still around to be admired. There is no better time to see and explore these amazing mansions and estates than the holiday season when they are dolled up in lights, garlands, and poinsettias.
Burroughs Home and Gardens
The Fort Myers Woman’s Community Club does an amazing job every year decorating the historic sites. Be sure to stop in and see their handiwork at the group headquarters in the Burroughs Home. The “Holiday House” tour opens the first week of December and runs until Christmas (opwn 5 p.m. – 9 p.m.). Santa sometimes drops in, so check the calendar to see what other activities are happening on-site.
Ford and Edison Winter Estates
Celebrate the festive season by seeing the old family estates sparkling under Christmas lights and decorations. “Holiday Nights” is a must-see event that draws national attention. Enjoy live music, stop by to say hello to Santa, and explore the many holiday gifts in the gift shop to take home with you or give to family and friends.
Festival of Trees
The Festival of Trees event shows off the creativity of everyone’s favorite holiday decoration – the Christmas Tree. Get inspired with amazing displays at the historic Sidney and Berne Davis Art Center. Be sure to vote on your favorite! This is a free event that runs from Thanksgiving – first Saturday in December. If you missed it this year, plan on attending in 2018! It’s never too early to book a beachfront vacation rental and start planning a winter escape to the beach.
Visit Coconut Point for the Tree Lighting Ceremony
It’s always a great place to shop, but Coconut Point comes alive at Christmas with a spectacular party and Tree Lighting Ceremony. A great event for families. Even if you don’t see the tree lighting, it is there on display throughout December along with plenty of stores and restaurants to enjoy.
